Itinerary

• Day 1: Zagreb to Timișoara (430 km)
  Roll east from Zagreb on Croatia’s D3 and Romania’s DN6 backroads—winding through plains and forested hills—to Timișoara, Romania’s vibrant gateway. Evening: savor mici (grilled sausages) and țuică (plum brandy) with your crew.

• Day 2: Timișoara to Sibiu (270 km)
  Head southeast on DN68, carving through Hunedoara’s rolling twisties to Sibiu’s medieval charm. Post-ride: dig into sarmale (cabbage rolls) and a cold Ursus beer in the old town.

• Day 3: Sibiu to Targu Giu (250 km)
  Tackle the Transfăgărășan (DN7C)—Europe’s wildest road—climbing steep switchbacks and hairpins past Bâlea Lake to the village of Targu Giu. Arrive and feast on tochitură (pork stew) and palincă (fruit spirit).

• Day 4: Targu Giu to Timișoara (350 km)
  Ride north on the epic Transalpina to Timisoara. Post-ride: grilled trout and vin fiert (mulled wine) in the shadow of the clock tower.

• Day 5: Timișoara to Zagreb (430 km)
  Weav through Hungary’s plains and forested bends back to Zagreb. Celebrate with mămăligă (polenta) and a rider’s țuică—prestige earned.
